MIDSOMER NORTON CENOTAPH:
The Midsomer Norton War Memorial, located on the High Street over the River Somer in Midsomer Norton, is a Grade II listed cenotaph commemorating local servicemen who died in the First and Second World Wars. Unveiled on 11 November 1920, it originally honoured 73 men from the First World War, with later additions recognising 36 from the Second World War.
Designed as a scaled-down replica of the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London, the memorial was created with consent from its architect, Sir Edwin Lutyens. Constructed from Blue Keynton stone and St Aldhelm stone, it features a bronze wreath, and plaques inscribed with the names of the fallen.

In 2022, the memorial underwent restoration to clean and repair its stonework and bronze elements, ensuring its preservation for future generations.
