Two Years On: How Our Play Park & Picnic Area is Making a Difference

Two years ago, thanks to funding from The National Lottery, BANES Council, ourselves, Midsomer Norton Town Council and The Food Forest Project, we opened a brand-new children’s play park, community foraging area, and picnic space at our Midsomer Norton site. The aim was simple: create an inclusive space where people of all ages could come together, enjoy the outdoors, and improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

Now, two years on, we want to take a closer look at the difference the project has made for our local community – and we need your help!

A Space for Everyone

From the very beginning, this project was about more than just a playground. It was designed to:

  • Encourage children and young people to explore, play, and learn new skills

  • Support physical activity and wellbeing for all ages

  • Create a welcoming space for families, friends, and community groups to connect

  • Foster a sense of community cohesion

We’re proud to say that the space is already buzzing with life. Families are enjoying unstructured play, picnics, and nature-based activities. Local families and groups are using the foraging area as part of their outdoor learning, and children are developing confidence, resilience, and new skills through play.

We Want Your Feedback

To understand the true impact of the project, we’re inviting the community to complete a short 5-minute survey. Your feedback will help us:

  • Show how the play park and picnic area is benefiting local people

  • Identify areas for improvement and plan future developments

  • Ensure the space continues to meet the needs of the community

As a thank you, everyone who completes the survey will receive 25% off a visit to Dynamite Adventure Golf!

Thank You for Being Part of Our Community

Your support and feedback mean the world to us. Together, we can continue to make our outdoor spaces a place where everyone feels welcome, active, and connected.

Let’s keep our community thriving – one picnic, one play, and one foraging adventure at a time!
