The following operating procedures specifically relate to the re-opening of our Writhlington site and are based on current government and UK Active (industry trade body) guidance at the time of publishing (July 2020). Click here for UK Active guidance.

Unfortunately, the gym extension at our Midsomer Norton site has been delayed due to COVID-19. We anticipate this re-opening on 1st October. Further updates to follow on this page and on our social media channels.

Writhlington Gym – (re-opening Saturday 25th July)

Anyone wishing to attend the gym will need to book in advance via our app (search DragonflyLeisure in the app store or google play) or online platform Please note you will not be able to attend the gym without a booking. Bookings can be made 7 days in advance.
Please note gym sessions will be offered on a pay-as-you-go basis until the end of July.  Direct debit membership subscriptions will be re-started on 1st August (this will be confirmed via email shortly on or before Friday 17th July). Annual members will still be able to book sessions at no extra charge if they choose. Annual memberships will therefore restart from the date of your first activity and will be extended by the period between 21st March (forced closure) to that date. Annual memberships that remain inactive will have their membership extended by the period of inactivity from 21st March until their first booking.

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP BOGOF OFFER – 24 months for the price of 12 on all our annual memberships – available when our indoor facilities re-open, date to be confirmed please visit our website for further updates.

Occupancy will be restricted to just 12 per session to ensure strict social distancing is maintained. This is lower than Government and UK Active’s recommendations of 100 sq ft per person.

Sessions will be offered in 50 minute blocks.

Juniors aged 11 – 15 can attend but will need to book and will need to be accompanied by a paying (booked on) adult during off peak hours – 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday and 8am – 1pm Saturday and Sunday). Please note juniors MUST be strictly supervised by an adult at all times when in the gym.

Customers will not be allowed to enter the building more than 5 minutes prior to the start of their session. We would prefer attendees to wait in their cars if arriving early and only enter the building approximately 2 minutes prior to the start of their session as this will avoid the need to queue.

Customers will be asked to sanitise their hands and take their temperature via a wall mounted contactless self-service infrared thermometer when entering reception. Anyone with a temperature will not be permitted to enter the building.

Customers will not be permitted to enter the gym unless instructed to do so by a member of the fitness team.

Customers will only be able to use equipment if they are a minimum of 2 metres away from other users. Staff will be supervising the gym to ensure this is adhered to.

Disinfectant wipes and gel will be provided. Customers will be asked to wipe down machines before and after use.

Towels / ‘sweat towels’ are not permitted.

A member of the fitness team will always be supervising to ensure social distancing rules and equipment cleaning regimes are adhered to.

All fabric equipment (boxing gloves, resistance bands etc) will be removed or marked out of order. Customers are therefore encouraged to bring their own equipment where necessary.

The water fountain will be out of use. Customers are therefore encouraged to bring plenty of water with them.

We are currently setting up a streaming platform so that we can offer home based workouts for those unable to attend site or for those that want to supplement their gym workouts with home-based sessions, a small charged will be levied for this service. Further details to follow.
